The End of the War
World War I which at the time was known as the “great war” officially ended when the Treaty of Versailles was signed in 1919. The allied nations went into effect on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month, and for that reason Veteran’s Day continues to be observed on November 11th, no matter the day of the week on which it falls. Veteran’s Day or otherwise known as Armistice Day is an occasion to reflect upon the fearlessness of those who served and currently serve our country’s army.
Veteran’s Day Assembly
Our JROTC had an amazing assembly for our Veterans last week. There were many inspirational slideshows to watch and routines they put together for us. It is amazing to see these students work so hard to put this together. Choir also worked hard to sing an awesome national anthem during the assembly to honor our veterans. They introduced all the staff who serve or have served in the United States army and all the students honored and clapped for them. They also did a flag ceremony and showed all the branches of the army.
The JROTC put together a rifle show and you can tell the whole group is very disciplined and well put together. They told us ways to greet veterans and how to thank them for all they do for our country. Overall this was a memorable assembly and an outstanding way to honor our veterans.
