Our varsity girls went up against Calvary Chapel this past week. Our girls started off the game strong, and with a good mindseOur varsity girls went up against Calvary Chapel this past week. Our girls started off the game strong and with a good mindset, trying to get their next spot in the league. They started off the first inning by scoring four runs, making the score four to one. Our girls were on fire after that, getting another four more runs in the next inning. By the third inning, Calvary was giving their all with the score being eight to one. Finally got one run, but so did we, making the score at the end of the inning nine to one. By this time, Calvary Chapel had agreed to mercy the game, only allowing the game to be 5 innings. In the next two innings, Buena Park had two more runs, making the final score eleven to one. The crowd cheered with joy at the end of the game because of how proud we were of our girls.
This game helped our girls get 5th place in the league. Now that they’ve got 5th place, the team is focusing on the upcoming tournament, where they aim to showcase their skills against even tougher competition. They’re focusing on refining their strategies and strengthening their teamwork during practices and working on their skills. The coaches are emphasizing the importance of staying focused and maintaining a positive attitude throughout the tournament. Beyond the tournament, the team is already thinking about next season, with plans to build on this year’s success and aim for an even higher ranking in the league, making CIF. They’re motivated to continue improving and making their school proud.
We interviewed one of their star players,, Mia Gonzalez, who is ranked number one in California for the most strikeouts with 200. She also broke the school record for the most strikeouts in a game,17. And the school record for pitching a perfect game.
