After a walk and a hit-by-pitch, the bases were loaded, but a pop fly ended the inning with no runs scored.
Buena Park finally got on the board in the fifth. They started with a single to left field, followed by another single by Melvin Peralta, putting runners on first and third. Reyes came up with another big hit to bring in a run, making it 4-1. A hit-by-pitch loaded the bases again, but a strikeout ended the inning before they could score more runs.
Valencia didn’t score again for the rest of the game. In the sixth, they got two runners on base, but Buena Park’s defense held up. Buena Park also had a walk and a stolen base in their half of the sixth, but couldn’t bring the runner home. In the seventh, Valencia got another walk and a wild pitch, but didn’t score.
With two outs in the bottom of the seventh, Reyes got a single to keep Buena Park’s hopes alive. After a walk, there were two runners on, but a final out ended the game. Although Buena Park lost 4-1, their defense stepped up significantly after the 2nd inning.
