The Buena Park Coyotes (Buena Park, CA) softball routed the host Laguna Hills Hawks (Laguna Hills, CA), 10-0, in Friday’s league outing . The Coyotes now sport a 12-8 record and a 4-1 record in the league, holding second place,ce trying to reach first. The girls finally had the chance ly get on the field and begin their warmup. With the music and tension on the field, to creates a very nerve-wrecking environment. The game finally went on its way with a very interesting first couple of innings, as one point was scored in the first inning by Mia Gonzalez. With many people on base and good hits from both teams, no points were being scored as many teams defended from trying to make a point, but mainly testing each other and figuring out some strategies to overcome the Coyotes ‘ opponent. Going into the fifth inning, the Coyotes coach sure did her job by motivating the girls some kind of way to put four runs in one inning, scored again by Mia Gonzalez, Layla Hinojos, Lily Phillips, and Calista Beltran. The scoreboard now read 5-0 in the fifth inning. With the disappointed faces from the Hawk, as they began to maybe think there was no way of coming back as the sixth inning began, and this had to be the time they had to make something happen to come back into this game. It was a great fight from the Hawks as they began to scare the Coyotes by getting close to scoring a couple le runs, thinking they had the game. But with the great pitching from Mia Gonzalez, the Coyotes were able to keep the Hawks from scoring throughout the whole game. The lasting inning started,d nd the Coyotes just had to go out and close the game out. On the other hand, the Hawks still went out trying to turn this game back around in their favor. The Coyotes did what they do best by adding five more points to the scoreboard of a 10-0 lead scored by Mia Gonzales, Emma Cazares, Lily Phillips, Leanne Overly, and Lianna Mendez. Then it became Mia Gonzales’ job to close the game, and as before, she did not allow anyone to get any hits, ending the game with an outstanding win by the Coyotes.
