Our Frosh basketball team went against Santa Ana for the last game of their season. In the first quarter of the game, the Coyotes were suffering as Santa Ana started with their head up high making their shots taking the lead over the Coyotes. One of the team leaders, Fountino, took a step up for the team and started getting it together giving Santa Ana a fight they will regret to be in. As we took a dive into the 2nd quarter of the game it got more even with our coyotes being able to match Santa Ana’s intensity. The Coyotes were motivated more than ever to make that comeback win and then we had a halftime where the coaches had a team talk which woke up the players and they were back in it to win it. The stands were filled with people. Cheering fans that were on the edge of their seats. Our defense was blocking the other team from making their shots.
Then we went into the 3rd quarter and they came out with more energy than ever before. Santa Ana still had the lead above the coyotes. With much time left into the game, they were not gonna slow down. Our coyotes were not gonna let this win slide out of their hands. They started creating more chances and they were able to capitalize on them making the score closer than it was when the game seemed to not go their way. The coyote’s defense got stronger like a brick wall not letting Santa Ana take advantage of their sharp shooters. As the final quarter of the game begins they are neck to neck with Santa with this being their last game of the season they were giving it their all trying to get that win. Minutes before the buzzer went off, the coyotes made a tie-breaking shot, Giving us the win against Santa Ana.
