Our baseball team had a great 4-2 win over South East High School last Thursday, February 20th, at home. The Coyotes started the game off strong by putting 2 runs on the scoreboard early in the 1st inning. Izeah Reyes took the win for the team with 5 strikeouts and 2 runs over five and two-thirds innings. Alex Blancas got the save as he took over in the 6th inning.
We interviewed Senior José Arcos about the game, and this is what he had to say.
Q: How do you feel about winning your home opener against South East High School?
A: I feel good that we were able to obtain that win at home and start off the season at home with that win because it led to a higher motivation for the whole team
Q: What do you think is something the team can improve on going into your next game?
A: I believe that our team is doing an excellent job overall during our games. The best thing for our team to do in the next game is to stay in the game all the way through
Q: What pregame routines do you guys have as a team?
A: We have a new routine almost every year. This year, we decided to start with our stretches, and after our stretches, we go to center field and get together to do a prayer and motivate each other and give each other encouragement for the game we’re going to play
Q: Being a captain on this team, what responsibilities come into your hands?
A: Being a captain for the team has many responsibilities to lead and encourage the team altogether. The captains have to keep their composure the most throughout the game so that the rest of the team can stay up and not fall together. As a team, we all make sure to keep each other accountable and responsible.
The Coyotes will head over to Paramount for their next game this Thursday.
