At BPHS, our Swim team is known to have an enjoyable environment, as it promotes team bonding, hard work, and discipline. Swimming is a great sport for students looking for a low stress sport that’s still physical and offers a variety of challenges.
Being a part of the BPHS Swim team means having a supportive, cheerful, and kind team. The team’s bond is highly prioritized, encouraging each other to push each their limits in practice and socialize outside of it as well. Everyone on the team shares a mutual respect for each other as they all encounter similar hardships during the season that help them relate and support each other when they need it.
“My favorite memory is hanging out with friends, cheering each other on, and just enjoying each other’s company”, shares Kamaile Atoe.
This quote shows that the environment for this sport is relaxed while still highly competitive, which is something many other sports try to replicate.
Swim meets and events are also a big part of the experience. According to Kamaile, “My favorite memory was at the Chino Hills invite. Invites are really fun because we get to hang out the whole day, skip school, and cheer each other on during events.” These events help the team grow closer and make the season more fun and exciting. They’re overall great for social development and give students wider opportunities to experience cultures outside of what their own school shares.
The Buena Park Swim team gives students a chance to work hard, make friends, and create great memories. By joining the BPHS Swim team will enrich your overall High School experience no matter where you decide to go in life. Being involved in such a competitive yet supportive group will give you the skills necessary in life to thrive in the varied social situations life throws at you. It gives students a chance to learn new skills that aid in finding what path they’re looking for in life while shaping and defining core values.
