Drawing and painting has been a popular elective here at Buena park high school since BPHS was established. Drawing and painting at BPHS has received much support over the years and has developed greatly over time. Many students choose drawing and painting as their first pick for their elective and it has been in high demand and has many benefits for students who choose to be a part of the program! Here in your first year of drawing/painting you will learn how to shade, use different mediums and textures, about the color wheel and complementary colors. Being a part of art at BPHS has benefits for expressing your creativity and gaining credits for college and exploring new skills. After your first year of drawing and painting you can decide to continue with the class or not, those who continue are transferred to AP and special studies art where you learn more advanced art, taking an AP class for art gives students benefits for their college resume. BPHS art program also offers yearly district art shows and contests where students 9-12 from all schools in Fullerton/Buena Park School District display their art for judges to see which ones are the best. The winner usually gets a medal and some kind of prize at the end!
