This week our Jv boys soccer played against El Modena. With this being their start to league the boys are learning a lot. With this only being their 4th game of the season the boys deftly faced some challenges. The first half of the game was intense with both teams looking to achieve their first goal they went head-to-head trying to make it.
As the game started our coyotes went with a lineup of 3-2-3-2 a more offensive style of play. This would mean we would have to take advantage of all the chances given to us s we have less in our defense. Our strong defense has always able been able to deal with tough situations so this would be another nig test for them. With our coyotes winning the 50/50 balls, it looked as if the game could go either way. As we defended our den with everything defender Vanni Sanches our captain for the Jv team fought hard against the El Modena Vanguards. The balls were from their feet and did not give them a second to breathe. This was helping our coyotes go out and get the counterattacks. As we made it towards the middle of our match the Coyote Aiden Sandavol got in a breakaway on the flank of the pitch crossing the ball but it wasn’t enough to finish into a goal. Following that play, we had to make a quick transition back as the El Modena Vanguards were able to catch us a breakaway but our solid defense was able to keep control and win the ball back avoiding getting an early goal scored on in the first half. Coach Mauricio had to calm his team down as things seemed to not go their way, talking to his players he motivated them to keep going and helped them get that boost of energy all the players seemed to need. Unfortunately for our coyotes, we conceded a goal with 14 minutes left into 1st half.
Going into the 2nd half things were changed and the coach’s talk helped the coyoyest lift their heads and continue their battle against the vanguards. With Vanni Sanchez sending balls to Jose Alvardo to counter-attack it seemed as if we were a few more steps away from scoring our goal to tie. Landon Burg and yousec hakim were able to take control of the midfield which is considered to be the heart of the field. They were able to connect quickly and get out towards the opponent’s net sending threw ball for iker Hernadez to run into, but they fouled creating a free-kick opportunity to cross the ball into the box but we were able to finish the play. Our goalkeeper was able to stop the shots that came from inside the box as the vanguards were able to turn and shoot but our keeper could save. Towards the final minutes of our match sadly our coyotes ended up conceding 2 goals back to back leading to a 3-0 defeat but this will be taken as a new learning lesson for the JV men’s soccer team as they still have a long and tough season in front of them Thank you to those who came to support and GO COYOTES!!!
