Christmas movies are a huge part of a kid’s childhood. They are all magical and make kids happy, even adults to this day still watch their favorite childhood Christmas movies. Christmas is the perfect time to hang out with family and friends, drink hot chocolate, and watch Christmas movies together.
The Grinch
Every young kid loves the new Grinch (2018) movie. Deadline.com wrote an article “ How Much Green Did ‘The Grinch’ Steal? No. 9 In Deadline’s 2018 Most Valuable Blockbuster Tournament” They explained that. “The Grinch opened to $78.2M domestically on the long Veterans Day holiday weekend, making it the biggest Christmas-themed pic opening of all time. It rolled out internationally shortly thereafter, grossing $240.6M overseas to go with its $270.6M in the U.S. and Canada.” This shows that this movie did really well in numbers and made a lot of profit. The article also states quotes, “The Grinch’s $511.3M global gross far exceeded the 2000 movie’s $345.1M global take”, which means the new movie made more money than the original Grinch that came out in 1966.
Home alone
Home Alone is a classic Christmas comedy film, It is one of the most popular Christmas movies to this day. The movie came out in 1990 and made over 477.7 million worldwide the movie was the highest grossing film of 1990. No one ever gets tired of this movie, no matter how old the movie is TV channels always have it showing during Christmas and people are always watching it. goodhousekeeping.com wrote the article “35 Fascinating Things You Never Knew About ‘Home Alone” They said, “When Home Alone debuted in movie
theaters back in 1990, not even the creators knew how successful — and hilarious to audiences — it would be”. People all over the world still love this movie and it shows, the movie still makes money to this day and people love watching it because they know this movie will make them laugh. The article also said, “The plot is exciting for audiences of all ages, and the star-studded cast offers another reason to watch this must-see movie”. This movie is appropriate for all ages. Young kids love the young actors and grown-ups love all the comedy in this show.
Elf
The movie “Elf” is a well-known Christmas movie, this movie is a fan favorite everyone loves the actor Will Ferrell and he did a good job at being the main character in the movie. Will Ferrell is super funny and that is a reason why this movie is so good and why this movie is popular. There are some crazy scenes in this movie parade.com wrote the article “15 Fun Facts About the Christmas Movie ‘Elf’”, they quoted “Ferrell suffered from sugar-induced 
headaches throughout the filming due to Buddy the Elf’s preferred diet of candy, candy canes, candy corn, and syrup”. Many people have seen this part in the movie and are amazed at how much sugar he puts in his mouth and knowing he suffered from headaches about this explains a lot. wikipedia.org “Elf (film)” explains “Elf was released in the United States on November 7, 2003, by New Line Cinema. It became a major critical and commercial success, grossing $220 million worldwide against a $33 million budget. Ferrell’s performance as Buddy, in particular, was praised by critics”. These numbers are wild they created the money with 33 million dollars and made 220 million worldwide they made a lot of profit and investing 33 million dollars was a good chance to take.
The Polar Express
The Polar Express in our opinion is one of the best Christmas movies of all time, it is very creative, colorful, and kid-friendly. Fandango’s article “10 AMAZING FUN FACTS: ‘THE POLAR EXPRESS” explained, “Released in 2004, the animated feature is based on a picture book by Chris Van Allsburg.” so not only was this a movie but it was also a children’s picture book. The popular book also won the Caldecott Medal in 1986. Fandango’s article also 
explains that “The main character of The Polar Express, Hero Boy, is a young kid, so it wouldn’t make sense for Tom Hanks to play him in full. The Oscar-winning actor did participate in the portrayal of the character through performance capture work, however, but was joined by then-child actor Josh Hutcherson (The Hunger Games) for additional motion reference. The voice of Hero Boy was provided by another child actor, Daryl Sabara of Spy Kids fame”. A lot of people thought the hero boy was played by one person, it is crazy to think 3 different actors actually played him and they all sounded similar to what no one noticed.
Buena Park’s Opinion
We asked a few players on the Buena Park football team what their favorite Christmas movies are. Alex Blancas said, “My favorite Christmas movies have to be The Grinch, Gremlins, Elf, Home Alone, and Dear Santa.” These all are all good choices in our opinion. We asked the next person the same question. Nathan Arellano replied and said, “This is so hard to pick because there are so many good Christmas movies out there but the best has to be Home Alone, Are We There Yet, The Grinch, Home Alone 2, and Christmas Vacation.” As you can tell, the movies “The Grinch”, and “Home Alone” are fan favorites and the most popular.
Overall, all of these movies are really good movies and fun childhood memories. Christmas movies bring so much joy and happiness to people just like the holiday itself. These are only 4 popular Christmas movies we named and there are many more still out there.
