2024 Election
The 2024 Election was one of the biggest and one of the most important elections me and my group have ever witnessed, everyone of all ages is talking about it, especially on social media like Instagram, TikTok, and X (one called Twitter). People had many different opinions about who they wanted to win the election and their opinions about each candidate’s policies. Some people were very rude on social media which we believe is wrong because everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
Market Reaction
The American people have talked about being worried about the economy in the Kamala Harris campaign. An article CNN has posted “Here’s what Harris and Trump are proposing for the economy” says, “The vice president has said that she will continue President Joe Biden’s pledge not to raise taxes on anyone making under $400,000 a year – which would mean extending some of the individual tax cuts. But she will push Congress to roll back tax cuts for the richest Americans, according to her policy paper”. The CNN article “Here’s what Harris and Trump are proposing for the economy” also explains, “The former president wants to extend all the individual income and estate tax cuts that the 2017 law provided. This includes, among other things, an increase to the standard deduction, lower marginal income tax rates for most income brackets, and an increase to the estate tax exemption”. We believe these policies would be beneficial to the American people if they could keep their promises.
Inflation
Inflation has been a huge worry to the American people also because people like our parents always tell us how expensive it is to buy simple things these days. Groceries have The cost of living has shot up tremendously. This generation worries for the future because it is almost our time to be independent and we need things to change now. Going to college and going to a simple university will be hard for us to afford. We hope the next president can change.
Taxes
According to cbsnews.com “Trump’s combination of tariffs and tax cuts — including cutting the corporate tax rate to 15% from its current 21% — would rank as the sixth-biggest tax cut since 1940, according to a recent Tax Foundation analysis”. I think this can help us a lot if this really happens. People are having to give up their hard working money and I think that is so wrong in many ways. cbsnews.com also says, “Harris is proposing a mix of tax cuts, tax increases, and expanded tax credits that together would rank as the 15th largest tax increase since 1940, according to the Tax Foundation.” Many of Kamala’s supporters are really happy about this news.
Abortion
The US people have made the abortion topic a huge issue, Cbsnews.com published an article “ Trump and Harris view on abortion and IVF access, explained” which provides a quote by Trump; “It’s a lie. I’m not signing a ban, and there’s no reason to sign a ban, because we’ve gotten what everybody wanted, Democrats, Republicans, and everybody else, and every legal scholar wanted it to be brought back into the states.” But when asked by debate moderator Linsey Davis whether he’d veto a ban, he responded, “I won’t have to,” but did not say he would veto a ban if it were passed by Congress.” Everyone thinks Trump is banning abortions but I believe he is just simply saying he is leaving it up to the states to decide whether they should keep or get rid of abortions
Immigration
An article written by ap.org “Where Trump and Harris stand on immigration and border security” says, “Before this trip, Harris largely shied away from the topic of immigration and has given few details about what she would do if elected. That’s a reflection of how the issue has become such a controversial topic for the Biden administration.” I don’t think this is fair for the American people because we have all witnessed that while Biden and Harris were in office the border has been the worst it has ever been.
Ap.org also explains that “One of Trump’s key promises if reelected is to mount the largest domestic deportation in U.S. history. He made similar promises when he first ran for office, but during his administration, deportations never topped 350,000.” I can confirm this is a fact because while Trump was president the borders were controlled.
Health
I believe all people need to get the chance to good health. Not everyone has the chance at medical insurance and we believe this is not fair. The government should do a better job at helping these people indeed, especially for pregnant mothers and elderly people.
Law
We can’t keep letting criminals get away with things cops have to stick to laws and do the things that they preach to us, for example, I witnessed cops drive 1oo miles an hour and they can get away with it because of their badges it is not fair for the American people and everyone should get in trouble for the same things.
Guns
I hope that whoever is president changes who can buy guns, criminals are getting these weapons easily and crime rates have also shot up, young children get a hold of these weapons and they end up killing themselves on accident this needs to change asap.
Overall we all need to be positive about who the next president will be, if we keep being negative the world will be a bad place for everyone. Let’s stay positive or else you will be miserable. Let’s trust in God that whoever wins is the right choice.
