The year of 2024 is a presidential election year. Many have waited for November 5th to arrive and many have dreaded it. Even though there are problems in the country that each candidate has a supposed solution for, there are many citizens who have divided opinions about each candidate.
This term’s candidates were Donald J. Trump and Kamala D. Harris. These candidates have inadvertently caused a divide in the country over the past few years. Each party, Democrats and Republicans, has had nonstop rage against each other. A nation centered on unification has ultimately become divided, with both parties wanting the other gone.
This article will be mostly informative and provide the reader with some background on how people on campus feel about this election.
We decided to interview a small handful of people who allowed us to interview them. Starting with Coach Rodney. When asked about how he felt about the election he said “He is the president, and so in my heart trusting God, I need to be good with that, and I’m willing to wait and see what happens.” He believes what we do for ourselves is more important than what the President will do for us in the future, and that we should have expectations for ourselves, not what he can do. We asked if he thinks the President will be impeached again, and he said “I don’t think so, I mean I don’t want that for him, I want success for everyone.” He also stated that we will have to see how his term will affect us, but he hopes his life will get better despite the President’s decisions.
We then interviewed a student, Ryan Blancas. He believes that Trump will “make America great again.” He also stated that he thinks Trump will change everything that went wrong, and hopefully change the gas prices and better America. We asked if he thought Trump would be impeached again, and he replied “I think so, maybe, but then again, who knows? He has a lot of power.”
Lastly, we interviewed a student, Sophia Holbrook. She is disappointed in the election, and when asked how she feels that Trump won, Sophia replied, “A little scared because I don’t know what he’s going to do.” She isn’t sure what he will do in the future, but she claims she heard that he is “trying to fix debt or something.” She also thinks he will most likely be impeached. She hopes that the President will fix the debt, but also believes he may take away people’s rights.
The electoral college vote ended with Kamala Harris getting 226 and Donald Trump winning with 312. In the popular vote, Kamala Haris also lost with 74,195,586 votes while Donald Trump had 76,736,168 votes.
Both candidates had contrasting ideas for the future of America. One candidate believed in the freedom of America and one wanted more security in America. People ultimately decided on Donald Trump. Although not many people may agree with his plans for the future, we should hope for the best in the next 4 years while he is in office. The president’s position can be a really stressful job handling world affairs and policies.
