This week we were able to witness the great win from our peers as they played in the coyote den against Western High School. To the player’s and coaches’ knowledge this could be the last scrimmage of this year, but who knows? Which is a positive if they end the scrimmages with a positive. Overall this was a good experience watching them play and work as a team to get the result. It began with the kick-off at 3:30 pm. There was an early goal from the Coyotes from a throw-in flicked on by Youcef’s head that went past the defensive line of Western and Adien was able to run on it with a first-time finish going over the keeper and to the back of the net. What a start from Buena Park. A few minutes later the second goal fell from the Coyotes a ball was won in the middle by Jose passing it to Robert and taking one player on then hitting a screamer outside of the eighteen putting it in the top left corner and giving the keeper no chance to be able to make the save for his team. Robert was able to leave the fan and his coach with a crazy reaction. Putting the coyotes up 2-0. Most of the first half was played on Western’s half leaving them with a few shots by the half, Buena Park attacking the goal wanting to end the game as quickly as possible. It was finally halftime what Western really needed as Buena Park was knocking on their door.
Second half began and it was time for Western to make something happen as they received some feedback from their coaches and made the adjustments they needed. Western started with the ball and they knew Buena Park would get too comfortable as they were up 2-0, the worst score to be up by. A couple minutes later Adien again was able to put another goal away for the Coyotes giving them the lead by 3-0. Everyone thought it was over for Western and from what was heard from the sidelines as the coaches from Buena Park they were playing badly. Western never gave up and kept fighting until the end. They were able to take away that clean sheet from the goalkeeper and defense of the coyotes that we’re looking forward to having but was taken away. It was off a free kick that the goalie wasn’t able to catch and keep in his arms. The rebound was left on the 6-yard box and was tapped in by number 5 from Western. The end result was 3-1 a victory from our Buena Park Men’s Soccer JV team.
