The Buena Park Coyotes faced off against Pacifica in a very close Pinkout game, with players wearing pink to raise awareness for breast cancer. The game opened with Pacifica driving down the field for an early touchdown, while Buena Park struggled to respond, failing to score on their first possession. A turnover shortly after by Pacifica offered BP a chance to tie it up, and Lynnden Hodge capitalized with a touchdown halfway into the 1st quarter, followed by a successful field goal attempt.
Pacifica fought back, scoring with a minute left in the first quarter and converting the extra point, while Buena Park saw two key injuries early in the game: Davin (#75) went down eight minutes into the first quarter, followed by Andy Flores (#51) being carted off.
Both teams exchanged touchdowns in the second quarter, with BP’s Damian
Rodriguez scoring late in the half and keeping the game close with a last-second touchdown that tied it up at 28-28 at halftime.
Pacifica was held to a field goal in the third quarter, but the fourth quarter saw an unfortunate turn of events for BP. Buena Park threw two early pick-sixes, allowing Pacifica to extend their lead to 45-28 with 10 minutes to go. Buena Park made a strong effort to come back, with Lynnden scoring another touchdown plus another good field goal. Pacifica then fumbled the ball and the Coyotes were able to score a field goal for 3 points. The game was now within 7 and with a fumble by Pacifica, the Coyotes had a chance to tie it up. The Coyotes came close but ultimately fell short and were unable to tie the game up.
The game ended 38-45 in favor of Pacifica, a hard-fought game in front of a pinkout crowd that showed tons of support for our team. This loss puts BP at an even record at 4 wins and 4 losses. Buena Park’s next game is against Portola and it is away so make sure to wish our team goodluck or show up if you can!
