October 18th was the final game of tennis for the seniors in the Girls Tennis Varsity Team. Although it was a gloomy event beginning middle and end, it’ll be a memorable one. The seniors that played their last game were Natalie Arellano, Avril Acosta, Ana Galvez Pacheco, Alexia Saldivar, and Jolette Santiago. Their last game was against Fullerton, and safe to say, was a competitive match up.
The last girls tennis match had some noteworthy moments. For example, in tennis, there are doubles tennis match ups, which tend to be the longer ones. The 2v2’s are intended to spice up the game, as well as make it entertaining because the tennis players could cover more ground. A remarkable duo were seniors Natalie Arellano and Ana Paola Galvez. Together, Varsity Doubles Team 1 were able to effectively score a few points against their opponents by switching their positions after a point was scored. Senior Jolette Santiago had an impressive performance. Her first match against her opponent lasted about half an hour, which was tough when considering the scorching afternoon heat. In tennis, games keep on going until a player wins by two points. Despite not winning her match up, she won the battle against the 80 degrees of heat.
Although the senior night ended in a loss for the Coyotes, it was entertaining nevertheless. Congrats to the girls tennis team for the effort they put in their last match to finish the season.
