On October 19th, the young Buena Park Coyotes battled against rivals Sunny Hills in an intense high-scoring football game. Going into this game, Buena Park’s current Frosh team record was 2-1, while Sunny’s was 5-4. Both teams competed up until the last whistle in this classic rival game, with a back-and-forth performance from both teams.
As they head into the first quarter, Kevin Garcia (#5) throws a staggering 50-yard pass to Elias Sanchez (#12) to start off the game. While the Coyotes defense holds Sunny to zero points in the first quarter they continue to score gaining the lead first. Following another touchdown during the second quarter Jack Oakes (#21) manages to return the football for a huge 75-yard touchdown which ties the game seconds before they go into halftime. The coyotes played competitively on both sides of the ball as they held Sunny Hills to only three touchdowns in the first half. After half time going into the second half the game becomes more heated as both teams continuously score making the fans hold their breath and lean forward in their seats with anticipation. After a tough battle between both teams Sunny Hills came out on top winning the game 68-42.
Even after the loss, many challenges were overcome and lessons were learned. Now the Coyotes look forward to next weeks game against the Chino Hills Huskies here at the Home Den.
