Dance Production

Here at Buena Park High School, we offer a Dance Production class. Ms. Klaus teaches this class as well as Dance 1, 2, 3, and Dance Company. The environment in Dance is welcoming, as well as a safe space for you to be in. Lots of friendships are made and it can even help build your confidence. For those interested in dance but never had a chance to try it, it’s a perfect way to get into it and learn all about it.

We interviewed Freshman Angel, Sophomore Laisha, Junior Edward, and Senior Michael Lily. Some have been dancing for more than a year and others have joined dance this school year. Angel said the styles of dance inspired him to join. Edward said seeing the dance team have fun inspired him. Micheal Lily said “The freedom to just move your body and tell a story” with your body inspired him. Watching performances from Dance inspired Laisha to join dance this year. Learning new dances can take up to weeks depending on the difficulty. The longer they dance the more they improve. Meeting new people and watching people grow and improve is something they look forward to.

Dance company usually always perform at every school event. To join dance company you have to audition. If you don’t get into dance company you go into different levels of dance. On the first day of school, they always have a performance. At the homecoming football game, they have a performance as well. They almost always have dance concerts a week before winter break. This year they sold out! Dance company always has great performances.

Not many people know but you can earn yourself a dance scholarship. Some of the top dance schools you can get a scholarship to are Alma College Dance Scholarship, American College Dance Association, and George Mason Dance University. Senior Micheal Lily got an early acceptance from AMDA College of the Performing Dance. Dance can not only benefit your future but also your mental/physical health.
